Development of collections

Ensuring the current and retrospective completion of the library’s collections by implementing the acquisition policies in accordance with the education and research process of the Bucharest University of Economic Studies

  • application of the completion policy in accordance with the norms established for the purchase of publications, liquidation of possible debts with suppliers, registration of publications in specific library records; 

  • analysis of procurement proposals from beneficiaries (students, teachers, researchers);
  • creation and application of unitary norms for processing publications;

  • establishing the conservation policy of the collections;

  • compliance with the legal norms regarding the elaboration of documents on the reduction of publications and archiving them in the library records;

  • distribution of publications in compliance with legal provisions;

  • managing the database of publication records;

  • elaboration of reports, statistics and information regarding the activity carried out within the Development of collections process, periodically, annually or at the request of the library or the university.

Development of the online library

Enrichment of the resources available in the Online Library.

  • outsourcing the resources of the ASE’s Library (online catalog, databases, electronic resources, etc.)

  • digitization of rare books and unique publications from the library collection

  • establishment and development of digital library courses, textbooks, etc. published under the auspices of ASE’s Publishing House

  • permanent development of the Online Library’s components on bibliographic materials in digital format for preparing for the bachelor’s final exam and master’s admission exam

  • integration of digital courses, textbooks from the bibliography of courses’ syllabi, according to teachers’ recommendations

  • collaboration for the development and update of the website

  • enrichment and capitalization of resources and publications purchased or developed (digital / online content) by communicating collections through the library’s website www.library.ase.ro and the library’s portal / platform / catalog http://opac.biblioteca.ase.ro

  • collaboration to provide technical support for the development of activities, actions and events within the ASE Library.

Cataloging-indexing-classification

Management, organization and updating of the bibliographic database of the library for the online catalog:

  • preparation and introduction in the online catalog of the description of all publications and resources entered in the library or available through the library, according to the international description norms;

  • establishing the Dewey classification index, based on the Dewey Decimal Classification manual, ed. 22;

  • indexing the publications, establishing the descriptors according to the OECD Treasury for the economic field and the Eurovoc Treasury 2006, version 4.2, Romanian edition;

  • removing from the catalog the records corresponding to the scrapped publications;

  • distribution of processed publications; 

  • controlling the way in which the catalogs reflect the existing collection of publications in the library;

  • indexing the existing websites in the Internet resources catalog;

  • retrospective completion, maintenance and capitalization of the database of the old book fund.

Bibliographic Research and Circulation Service

Research, assistance and bibliographic guidance

Offering bibliographic guidance, and elaborating informative and documentary materials.

  • providing bibliographic references and conducting bibliographic investigations upon request;

  • management of the bibliographic references service in traditional system and by e-mail;

  • training and assisting users in the process of retrieving bibliographic information and accessing databases; 

  • capitalizing on the library’s collections by creating tools necessary for the teaching and research process;

  • realization of bibliographic tools with info-documentary and advertising destination;

  • establishing, updating and managing the bibliographic basis of the education process in ASE, by verifying, annually, the compulsory bibliography in the courses’ syllabi of all bachelor’s and master’s programs for all faculties, for each promotion;

  • permanent cooperation with ASE’s departments for recommendations of new editorials necessary for the teaching process;

  • preparation of digital bibliographic material for entrance exams, bachelor’s final exam, etc.;

  • promoting library products and services;

  • organizing events and training sessions;

  • writing informative materials about the library and its collections;

  • informational updating of the library web page;

  • inter-library cooperation and collaboration for activities, developing partnership agreements with similar institutions, including domestic and international interlibrary exchange;

  • statistics and evaluation of library activity;

  • elaboration of the specialized publications of the library: Buletin bibliografic and Repertoriul tezelor de doctorat.

Circulation services

Organizing, administration, ensuring access and communication to users of the library’s collections, resources and services through reading rooms, book borrowing centers and the library’s book storage room:

  • registering users and issuing the library permits;

  • management of the users’ database;

  • ensuring access and authentication of users in the library;

  • issuance, granting of annual approvals – activation of the rights to use library services;

  • managing and organizing the publications available in the reading rooms and book borrowing centers;

  • informing and assisting readers in using the library’s collections and services;

  • communicating collections and ensuring access to services and resources;

  • managing the computerized book borrowing service;

  • organizing interlibrary book borrowing relations for publications;

  • ensuring the optimal framework for consulting the documents in the reading rooms, under the conditions of strict compliance with the internal regulations;

  • ensuring, through multiple forms of public relations, an optimal information and guidance of users regarding the communication activities of the collections;

  • organizing the collections available in the reading rooms with open shelf-access according to the Dewey classification;
  • organizing the internal flows of the users;

  • carrying out the interlibrary book borrowing activity;

  • elaborating reports, statistics and information regarding the activity carried out within the Communication of collections process, periodically, annually or at the request of the library or the university.
